Hour Glass to showcase RM267m worth of watches.

Premier regional specialist watch retailer Hour Glass will showcase S$120 million (RM267 million) worth of watches at an exhibition in Singapore from August 25-29 in conjunction with its 25th anniversary.

Hour Glass deputy general manager Michael Tay said the five-day exhibition, which will themed Tempus -The Great Watchscapade - would be held at the Raffles City Convention Centre.

Speaking at press briefing in Kuala Lumpur on June 4 on the exhibition, he said Tempus, which means time in Latin, would feature 30 internationally renowned brands that include Audemars Piguet, Jaeger Le-Coultre, Patek Philippe and Ulysse Nardin.

He said the S$2 million production would showcase S$120 million worth of watches including Audemar Piguet's Musical Hours Exhibit and Cartier Paris's Private Collection of vintage wristwatches.

It will also showcase specially created commemorative pieces for the occasion from watchmakers such as Cartier, Patek Philippe and Ulysse Nardin.

Tay said the exhibit was being held to "plant the seeds" for a watch-collecting culture in Southeast Asia as well as to enhance it through education and interaction with members of the industry.
