i can completely stand behind most of the points you make and am the first to admit that accuracy is not the feature about a watch that really pushes my button. evidence is that most of the watches i've owned so far (save for some cheapo eta-driven watches) are/were bad timekeepers, and i still enjoy them, heehee ...
anyways, while accuracy and otherwise mechanical capability may not be a major focus for me as a buyer, they do however constitute an integral part of high-quality watchmaking, and in this respect i take a negativistic view towards the geneva seal as i am not convinced that it actually does just that ... protect high-quality watchmaking. i just have the impression that the geneva seal is more a convenient means for brand protectionism, rather than craft protectionism.
but i will happily be convinced otherwise.
