What do you consider as Important Inventions of the past that help make our mechanical watches what they are today?

Watches were not done in one day, and those which we today wear on our wrist are the heiresses of a long history of technology, sciences and mentalities, which is articulated outstanding inventions.

Let's try to rewind back in time and gather those inventions which we benefiting today.

What do you say, could this be the start of our today's watches?

I think that the first important invention is the 'ratchets wheel'. It not known for sure when it was invented, alleged to be around 1200's. It enabled to transmit and reduce force (energy). The material employed were, wood, cooper, iron, brass.

Yves.
