It was originally built as a church dedicated to St. Genevieve, but now combines liturgical functions with its role as a famous burial place. It is an early example of Neoclassicism, with a façade modeled on the Pantheon in Rome.

Strolling down right in the smack of Saint German Blvd we wondered off to a little romantic park (like so many that are there) @ Square de Cluny and explored the surprising sights which included ancient remains, church & a museum.

We finally had our first Metro ride …
….tried to make the Maxim’s boat ride, but we were late which made ma cheri sad.

No problem I had another destination in mind anyways -Eiffel Tower ;-)

The closer we got to this gargantuan structure so did the romanticism grew ;-) LMAO

…ahh Paris, Eiffel, tres joli, ….
… l’ amour, petit dejeuner LMAO
Across the Seine & the Eiffel Tower is the mighty Troacadero site of. Palais du Trocadero was built for the 1878 World’s Fair & then for the Exposition Internationale of 1937 demolished & Palace de Chaillot was rebuilt. The view from the above...
….and from the below
After all this afternoon delight we did our usual & favorite unmapped return via some smaller streets to our home base, but not before stumbling into a few favorite sites including Sorbonne.
Night was reserved for more romance, wine & epicurean delights but not before taking a look at what we were fortunate to experience together today for the first time.
Unfortunately all this romance & joie de vivre resulted in me forgetting to charge the camera battery and lose a whole day of sightseeing picture opportunities :-(
A few pictures of the Monteparnasse Blvd sights such as Fontaine de L’Observatoire ..
… dedicated sculpture honoring Stephane Tarnier the architect of perinatology …
…and with NO BATTERY left Ecole Militaire & Hotel des Invalides were not captured on film ;-(
Soon after we ended up in our favorite Latin Quarter again checking out all the cool little shops, cafés & sites…
..such as St. Germain des Pres
The evening was reserved not only for bistro & party time but as well accidental discovery of some unique places just by walking around …
… such as Barbes. Represented by many different cultural tastes (ie Algerian, Sengalese, etc) which gives it that colorful feel and an exciting quality that few other places in Paris can match. You would never expect to be so exciting at night time, the only thing keeping us from staying there the whole night was absolute exhaustion (& a little bit of too much peppermint tea NAAAARDIIIN SALAM ;-) ).
Next day was reserved for spending it with our Parisian friends, enjoying the best of food & watch shopping that Paris had to offer, of course more about that later ;-)
The day after we had our morning shopping run at the most fabulous market & picnic lunch in the nature (later about that as well) followed by spending the day sightseeing the biggest avenue I ever saw - Champs-Élysées. The view toward the start of it on one side Palace the Concorde…
…and the other end of it Place Charles de Gaulle.
With its cinemas, cafés, and luxury specialty shops I can’t say that it isn’t interesting just not what I personally find charming about true Paris.

In the middle of it is the glorious and one of my favorite landmarks in the world Arc de Triomphe.
I just love this photo!
The intricate design is by Jean Chalgrin, in the Neoclassical version of ancient Roman architecture with major academic sculptors of France are all represented.
Arc is a linchpin of the historic axis leading from the courtyard of the Louvre Palace, a sequence of monuments and grand thoroughfares on a route leading out of Paris. Here is a little 360 vista looking in all directions.
Beneath the Arc is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from the First World War. It burns in memory of the dead who were never identified, now in both World Wars.
The last day we decided we need to spice it up so next stop Pigalle ;-)
Pigalle is infamous for being a tourist red-light district, with many sex shops and prostitutes operating in the side streets, but in the daytime it is really quite inviting.
Lots of things to see & have a laugh at (especially the names) I can only imagine it at night ;-)

Even the world famous Moulin Rouge was there …
Next up was Montmartre a hill in the north Paris, primarily known for the white-domed Basilica of the Sacré Cœur on its summit.
The walk all the way up to it is definitely worth it especially on such gorgeous day like this one.
A little bit more up walking ….
… and you’re staring at this!!!...
…while looking at whole Paris like on the palm of your hand.
The interior of the Basilica was stunning as well that I couldn’t resist taking some photos despite no camera rule during mass ;-)
The rest of the afternoon was spending enjoying the calamity of the little parks …
… as well all the little pathways crisscrossing the hill.
Soon we headed back taking our last ride on the Metro while catching last few pics in the process.
Time was to meet our friends again & go for that last day big time send off ;-)
You guessed it that is a whole other story ;-) ;- ) ;-)
Stay tuned for Part 4
