Anyone with Big Bang?
Just tried on the Big Bang today and really liked it! I don't mean the gold one with CF dial which is too busy/AP for my taste, but the regular one,,,,
Anyone care to share their experience with this watch?
Asi
asi, mate, I tried several and don't like them)))
for me BB is too.... look like the ROO AP. The RO is a reference, as the sub rolex. Many tried to copy them, and many failed.
Just my 2 naaaardin roupies!
what about all those kings?
anyway, when I look at Hublot's line, looks right in place.
Doing some research as I really don't know much about the brand: movement? any clue?
I guess resale value sucks, so perhaps better off on the secondary market? or am I wrong here?
Asi
As for the movement, guess it's an ETA)))
Go on tne 2d market if you really want one. But before, once again, look at the ROO. The design of the ROO is far much nicer for me!
modified 7750 - that means it will work! :))))
LOL
Asi, I saw them, tried them and >
I cannot detach 'them' from resembling to closely the ‘AP Montoya’.
It may be that Hublot never ever knew about the AP and vise-versa, but the identity of this piece is known as to be an AP to all.
Bearing the above in mind, It was difficult to appreciate the Hublot for its own merits. Of course it is well executed, of course it is close to half the cost of the AP, but it felt strange to pay this much and being like... the one at the top.
Now Hublot does a Big Bang for ladies as well as a newer men’s version…

can't speak from an owner's perspective ...
... only from having handled a few pieces in the store. ultimately i think neither the BB nor an APROO would keep me interested designwise in the long term, but then there's nothing wrong in buying a little fluff piece to flip somewhere down the road ... i've been guilty of this crime for my last few watch purchases :o) LOL
anyways, a few thoughts from the top of my head:
1. i don't think the design is an bovious rip-off of the offshore. yes, there are similarities, but the design cues that trigger the comparison are sooooo generic. any sports chrono with a rubber band and screws in the bezel ultimately looks somewhat like an APROO. at least the BB actually has screws in the bezel ;o)
2. valjoux 7750. hmmm. ok. i'm actually an admirer of the valjoux chrono movement for it's robustness and accuracy, but let's be honest, a 7750 with a new rotor does not warrant a display back ;o) plus, i am one of those people for whom the constant scratching and rotor wobble is distracting and annoying.
3. i have a noted dislike for rubber straps of any kind and was disappointed that i could not check out a bracelet model. from pictures, i find the bracelet to look somewhat cool and blend into the look very smoothly.
4. i really like the use of ceramics on any watch, big fan of that case material here. if i'm not mistaken, hublot work together with kyocera on the ceramic materials, which is certainly a guarantee for innovation and quality in that department. oh, and lookee ... would you know it? a year after the big bang, AP comes out with an offshore that has a ceramic bezel LOL :o)
5. while some people find the constant release of new limited or special editions of the BB in a gazillion different versions distracting, i must say they come out with some pretty cool stuff. like the all-black BB, heehee ... i like it, it takes some balls to creat a watch with minimal legibility.
Every damn night!!!! :-)))) nt
