guys if you find my posts boring or out of line, i hope you'll let me know and i won't post the link to the upcoming ones....

after we left Anita's workshop we headed up north towards Neuchatel and La Chaux-de-Fonds region...

we stopped at a hotel right on the Lake Neuchatel were we had dinner with Manuel Emch (the boss), Laurent De Basio (Product manager), and the two Nathalie...

i didn't take too many pictures since i was listening to what they had to say about the future of J*D...

we got to see the new stone Pietersite...the flash accentuates the blue veins right under the surface of the stone...absolutely beautiful...

Jon found a friend to warm his lap...

thank you Manuel, Laurent, and both Nathalie for a wonderful evening!!!

next morning a quick shot of Lake Neuchatel...

we finally arrived at 5 Rue Jaquet Droz...

i know that Jon posted some of the pics but I hope you don't mind posting again...

the work area where new dials are designed and new movements are planned...one other observation, the average age for folks working in J*D is around 28 I believe!...from the CEO to the watchmakers everybody is really young and passionate about the watch making craft...

after a short introduction and chat with Giancarlo, the vintage pieces started to show up...

the well-known design...

Paillonnee?

a tray of goodies...

old and new...now you can appreciate Anita's work...she did an amazing job on the new Paillonnee when compared with the old pocket watch...

again old and new...the J*D trademark dial...

more pieces...i tried to capture the details of the decorations...

old piece with an amazing movement...a carillion inside makes beautiful music...

i love the blue color of these old cases...

a gift from Napoleon to his lovely wife Josephine...

another tray of goodies...

then the automatons showed up...i was mesmerized and i didn't take many pictures...i'm sorry, but you had to be there...to be able to see these mechanical marvels built more than 200 years ago still working...

as a side note, many of the automatons J*D purchased for the upcoming museum (how fortunate were we to be able to handle these pieces before they're put in their displays in the museum?) came from the Emperor of China...

the one automaton that had the two birds in the cage singing looked exactly like a real size bird cage and it was suppose to hang from the ceiling...the dial was underneath so you can read the time...

world's smallest automaton...can you imagine that the tiny bird was flapping its wings while its beak was moving when the watch was playing a flute piece...and look at the branch the bird is sitting on...very, very thin and yet through it are the levers that make the bird move...unreal...

a big chunk of that gorgeous stone: Pietersite...

some other offices and desks at J*D...the first one is the office of Manuel Emch...Giancarlo is calling Manuel to let him know that he struck a deal with us for some special pieces at only 10% of the cost of a GS...

thank you again to everybody at J*D for such a wonderful experience!!!

and thanx for looking,
adrian
