@ the end of the 19th century but it was considered at the time to be more of an fashion accessories as it was made originally for women :-) Take that watch aficionados LMAO So if you look at it from ours mens(aka Macho perspective LOL) it was not until that "crazy" Brazilian inventor Alberto Santos-Dumont who had difficulty checking the time while in his pursuit of flight when his buddy Louis Cartier supplied him with a wristwatch that he could use more easily while operating "AeroPlane" (another "crazy" idea!). So credit to Cartier who supplied Dumont with a leather-band wristwatch (again thanks to the ladies & their accessories). Soon due to Cartier being so Tres Chic in fashion forward Paris, Cartier was in demand & started selling this same leather strapped watches to other men. So again innovation through actual need, Ladies accessories all compiled with a little fashion forwardness by some Men & we got ourselves a wristwatch :-)
