In 1675, Christian Huyggens, he makes a watch which used a balance wheel and a spiral spring instead of a pendulum which worked properly (losing approx. 1 minute a day). From this point watches can run regularly and therefore displaying an accurate time, or close.
The balance wheels and spiral springs were used in almost all watches until the invention of the quartz crystal oscillator.
The balance springs is made of: Blued Steel thread, Niravox, nickled stainless steel, or Elinvar (steel treated and allied to the propriety to have invariable elasticity to all temperatures).
Timekeeper by Isaac Thuret made in 1675 with the invention of Christiaan Huyggens.
