hi folks, finally i have time to post some pics and impressions of the latest addition during my catch-and-release spree. needless to say that this one will also get flipped or traded soon, but let me assure you that i'll miss it quite a bit LOL :o) a few weeks back a glashuette original sport evolution chrono with a silver dial and rubber strap found its way into my shelter for abandoned watches nobody else loves. for your viewing pleasure, let's start out with some pics (my pics suck as usual, but the lighting was not on my side, so bear with me...) ok, let me start off by saying that i think GO are on a roll. the company has completely revamped almost their entire line-up with new models, styles and movements. one of the popular newish models is the sport evo series, acclaimed for its outstanding new bracelet system (well, mine has a rubber strap. also very well-made with solid steel lug attachment pieces). the case is very substantial, 42.5 mm diameter, to be precise, and quite chunky. below i have attached some comparison shots with my pam190, you can see that the GO definitely is not for the timid. the casework is outstanding and doesn't really translate in my crummy pics, but the mixture of finely brushed and polished surfaces is quite intricate, and there are a few nice details (like the engraved tachymeter scale on the bezel). the crown is screw-down and the case is wr-rated to 100m. the sapphire crystal has ar-coating on the outside. the dial has subseconds at 3, and minutes- and hours-registers at 9 and 6 . with the loupe that GO conveniently throws into the package, one can appreciate the detailing on the face. the chrono-seconds hand with the little GO-logo at the tail end, the highly-polished indices and the finely polished hands with the red accents. the lume is alright, but there's not much of it (just hands and 12-o'clock-index), so lumefreaks might be disappointed. alright, let's flip this thing over. here we can see the GO cal.39 workhorse movement, which is finished beautifully for the pricepoint, with a 21k gold rotor. in this class, GO really might only be rivalled by jlc in terms of finely hand-polished movements. the cal. 39 is not exactly superexciting, but it is robust, reliable and suitable for a sportswatch with a 3/4-plate for a sturdy construction. the chrono is modular, but works very pleasantly, with nice pusher feel with a defined click, and all chrono hands reset accurately. the accuracy could be better (5 sec. slow per day), but the movement is not broken in yet. did i mention i have a thing for nice backsides ? :o) ok, finally for the useless paraphernalia. the box is very nice (gloss maple? some burled wood, anyways) with a button lock. the fact that GO supplies the loupe definitely shows they're not shy about their work. all in all, this piece was a lucky pickup. if you haven't had the chance to check the sports evo series out, you have missed out :o) cheerio, johannes
