thank you so much for your interest guys....here is a post about the beautiful stone dials that J*D and many other brands (i'm not allowed to post the shelves with all the watch companies that use Daniel's services, but I can assure you that ALL the ones that have anykind of stone on their dial, is made by hand in Daniel's workshop)...
enjoy... adrian
after lunch with J*D crew, we headed to see how all those gorgeous J*D stone dials are made...
here is Daniel in his workshop...
the hands of an artist...
some dials ready to be polished...the light beige ones are petrified coral...
the stones are placed in these brass holders then moved to the polishing step where they get down to the desired thickness...
stones...
here is a big chunck of Dumortierite...a beautiful blue stone that J*D was willing to make me a piece unique...but after i saw the Pietersite, I changed my mind...
pieces ready to become dials...as a side note, Daniel is doing work for many other watch manufacturers...not only J*D...

ready for the watch cases...

on a table upstairs we found some gorgeous stones...
the dark red is petrified algae, whereas the lighter red to the right is petrified dinosaurus bone...to the middle and to the left two amazing pieces of Spectralite...as you move around them, the light reflects from different layers below the surface...

stone dials ready for J*D watches...

here is the Pietersite...yummy!!!!!

a piece of meteorite...the surface appears dull...to get all that interesting pattern on the dial, the meteorite has to be placed in an acid to remove the superficial oxide...
work in progress...

few blue screws...
the dial is almost done...

he can also do laser engraving in onyx...
an UN drawing that will become a beautiful dial...
