Developed in 1969, the ‘El Primero’ is the first movement in history Mechanical Automatically Wound Chronograph. It is precise to 1/10 of a second, which remains unmatched. It is the Floret of Zenith, and for a long time it was found inside Rolex Daytona, as well as Ebel, Chaumet, Daniel Roth, Panerai and more.

LIP realised its first tourbillon wristwatch prototype in 1930, but it remained not commercialised. Patek Philippe in 1949, Omega 1947, have launched some small series of tourbillon wristwatches in the end of the 40’s. In 1986, Audemars Piguet proposed a world first tourbillon automatic. The tourbillon used, had been breveted by Louis-Abraham Breguet in 1801 for a pocket watch.

NOTHING at all! Due to a malfunction inboard clock, Neil Amstrong who officially had an Omega Speedmaster, chose to leave it on board as a time of reference in case of a problem (this because the onboard clock was not functioning). The first true Omega Speedmaster that accompanied a moon walker was the one of ‘Buzz’ Aldrin. Sadly this timepiece was stolen from him. The US astronauts later admitted to have wristed ‘unauthorised’ wristwatches. The privately owned watches were: Breitling Navitimer & Rolex GMT.

From 1952, French combat swimmers had tested with success for their commando operations, the Fifty Fathoms of Blancpain, robust and reliable, but less expensive than Rolex waterproof watches of that time. Fifty Fathoms for ‘50 breaststrokes’, in other works 100 meters. It is naturally that Commandant Cousteau, officer of the French Marine Royale’, had to keep this watch on his wrist and push others to adopt it.
