How ever a small time we had together, I have since valued the time we spent with together, and I look forward to some more when it will be possible.
About Limited editions...
Many guys including myself have in the recent months talk about 'limited edition', and recently an article was published in Europa Star (well thought and explained...)
Of course it is attractive to anyone, to own something of value for a priveldge few, I too, often fall for this one.
What I think that is important (in our world of watches) is that we first buy what we need, enjoy, want or can justify etc... this way we make no mistakes, then it is US who will give the volume of all the rest we have.
I see that it is not like this for most people, they need to be 100 percent secured that it is everything else but what they truly want, and this is where, imo, it goes wrong. In the end we would have been here once, so what matters is that we somehow leave a small print about us. Each of us, is for sure a Limited Edition...
Limited edition watches has turned to be all but about limited edition, it is no more, or for a very little few, about making a special for those who would truly appreciate it.
Some do respect the definition of Limited Edition, I can think of IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Patek, blancpain... but most others use and 1980's marketing formula which was mastered by Swatch, I resume this Swatch era... 15USD Limited Edition watches going for as much as 3000USD till in mid 1986 no one could get rid of them for 10USD, it all collapsed! and many were left as fashion victims, with nothing of value to await the next cycle...
Traditions is what we ought to always observe, because in the end, only true values remain and evolute, and in those we can have faith.
We are best to stay limited to tradition, because if the fashion or price do fall, we are at least left with 'Art' that cannot be duplicated.
Just food for thoughts!
