i like it ...
... i am a die-hard fan of ceramics as a case material and trust iwc that they have done their homework. i am pretty sure that the ceramics cases are not produced in schaffhausen, but outsourced, and i am not surprised by that. obviously ceramics are not easy to work with and i know other high-end manufacturers also leave the production of ceramic cases to dedicated suppliers.
the doppel-movement is certainly aged like a good single malt. with many fancy-schmancy chronos with flyback, split-seconds, ratrappante etc. features, i am a little worried about simple feats like a properly resetting seconds hand, but the iwc is tried and true and i can't recall having ever heard a bad thing about it. but then, i wasn't looking for such reports either :o)
i like the new case size and design-wise i think it works. the little red subseconds hand is an unobtrusive way to spice things up a little, and i don't mind the pushers/crown in brushed metal finish. i can imagine that manufactuing them out of ceramics would be prohibitively expensive, and pvd'ing them would not be a long-term solution.
personally, i hate day-date displays, but that's just me. the triple date that yves mentioned is certainly curious, but i have seen pictures that support the statement from an iwc rep i heard that they are copies of the instruments used in the junkers ju-52 plane, the vintage machines that iwc uses in many a promotional event.
