conditions were set up I am not surprised. All this handpicking super limited worthy selection of few for the 203 creates great attention and publicity that no PR campaign can achive solely, as watch enthusiast are the ones who are spreading "the 203 word" & creating this "buzz" on various Internet forums.
IMO Panerai & AB knew exactly what they were doing by pricing this watch, slowly distributing it among the "selected" few, and finally raffling one off achieving almost 5 fold appreciation thus cementing its relative perceived valuation. As another person said the 203 is a brilliant marketing gag and I can see AB sitting and laughing away at our discussions I believe this to be true cause I can't see him agonizing in tears especially after he achieved another apparent cue for those that did get them at retail price. Hey it worked this time & as long as there is more ready sheep for the slaughter there will be plenty of opportunity for a nice repeat. ;-)
So some people who deserved to get one they got screwed so what's new?! Those that did are happy & feeling extra special reading all this & those that cashed it in are laughing all the way to the bank!
Guess what the world still turns & for some reason I believe the way things are going we'll see another 203 situation real soon ....
