Have to differ with you on this one .....
As a life long diver...the velcro stap is perfect for the compression that occurs at depth...
Most equipment worn on the outside of a wet suit is cinched very tight on the surface to account for this compression. Experienced divers can adjust for loose equipment in seconds...
Velcro is a integral part of just about all dive equipment for various reasons...
