great find, yves, but very strange indeed.
i have never even heard about this model. there are very many curious aspects about this watch, first and foremost that it is not a particularly pratical dive watch, actually.
typically the combat divers in the german navy have to wear thick neoprene wetsuits because of the cold water conditions they encounter, and both the velcro strap and the bracelet are less than ideal to wear the watch over those. the wetsuit compresses as the diver descends, the wrist circumference shrinks and the watch starts to dangle inconveniently on the arm. and the bezel is also cumbersome for timing, due to the lack of indices. very interesting.
btw, the training for these divers is truly brutal, only a tiny fraction of them makes it through the basic training. i have a brief familiarity with the combat diver selection program back from the days when i was heavily into apnea diving, and it's not funny: one of the exercises they have to go through is being locked into a supernarrow , windowless tube underwater for three minutes. those guys can easily hold their breatch for that time, but the claustrophobic environment paired with the utter helplessness of the situation are a very tough psychological test.
