My father owned this exact model, Rolex Submariner 16800. It was supposed to be mine "one day", unfotunately it got stolen. Fast forward 25 years, yes made in 1981, and the watch is mine all mine :-) It adds to its significance that it is a Transitional model, the last of the Rolex Subs to have the matte dial and the first to have a saphire glass. It is my understanding that the non WG ring dial was only produced for a couple of years. This one is in pretty good shape :-) Look at the "quail egg" pearl on the bezel. Reminds me of the non-matching varnish on the 201-As. Saludos my friends, Guille
