'Précisions utiles' Things to know about the accuracy of a mechanical watch: The precision of a mechanical watch depends on the latitude: a mechanical watch regulated at the equator advances 226 seconds per day with the pole. This precision also depends on the barometric pressure, from where the need to make a correction of the pushed air, and of the temperature, because of dilations. This last factor is most important: The length of the pendulum of a mechanical watch increases when the temperature rises. With a steel stem, a watch delays 0,5 second per day when the temperature increases by 1 degree Celsius I tell you what instead of learning how to change a strap, I think we ought to be qualified in regulating our timepieces, this way, each day we can spend half hour regulating our piece and be on time on the day :-) Yves.
