For the purpose.

The 5712 is approx. 1cm high, it is thinner than the 5711 which is approx. 1.4 cm, The 5711 is heavier too.

But Asi you need to try both, personally I am completely satisfied with the wrist fitting that the 5712 offers, it makes a change and somehow it fells like we are back in the late 70's.  IMO, The 5711 is too basic, it does not offer me what could make me pull the trigger for such a priced piece. BUT the 5712, wouah, I am all over it! Again I also look forward for the 5980
