I've often wondered why people buy white gold and platinum cased watches, when to my untrained eye, they look the same as stainless steel. Yes you get a little extra 'heft' when wearing the watch due to the higher specific gravity of the precious metals, but other than that, why do people pay maybe $16-20K for a PAM 180 when the 104 is around $4-5K (Just one example)? Yellow and pink gold obviously have a different look to them, so I can understand an arguement for those, but what about white gold and Pt?
Any body else with thoughts on this topic?
(If only they made a Grand Lange 1 in SS, maybe I could have a prayer of affording one.)
Watches and cars, what more does a guy need?
